In 2019, China will celebrate the 70th anniversary of its establishment. It has braved thorny paths and confronted stormy weather over the past seventy years. Under the wise leadership of the Communist Party and with the joint efforts of all fellow Chinese, China has made remarkable achievements. In retrospect of the past, we must cherish the hard-won achievements. From May 31st to June 1st, the Party Committee Organization Department organized the faculty and students with Party membership to Xibaipo and Zhengding, where education and training were held with the theme of “following the footprints for original aspiration”.

  On the morning of May 31st, participants reached Xibaipo, the sacred land of revolution by bus. It is in Xibaipo that the Central Party Committee and Chairman Mao commanded Liaoning, Huaihai and Pingjin battles, the three key battles stunning China and the world; that the historical second plenary session of the 7th CPC Central Committee and the National Land Conference were held for the liberation of the country. Xibaipo is therefore crowned as the “Cradle of New China” and “The Village Deciding the Fate of China". Led by deputy party secretary Lu Guangming, the participants reviewed the admission oath before the study began.

     Later, led by the local guide, the participants visited the former sites of the second plenary session of the 7th CPC Central Committee and the Central Committee of the CPC, the Xibaipo Memorial Hall and the Integrity Education Hall. Through documentaries and exhibits, we learned about the revolutionary practices and activities carried out by the CPC and leaders at Xibaipo. When visiting the former residences of revolutionists such as Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, and Liu Shaoqi, we were all stunned by the toughness of their living environment; the site of the National Land Conference with the goal of “land to the tiller” gave us an vivid experience of joining the historical meeting; through the command map of the three key battles, everyone had deeper understanding of the hard-earned victory of the Communist Party who commanded the world’s largest revolution in the world’s smallest headquarters.

In paying tribute to previous revolutionists, reviewing this history to appreciate the revolutionary spirit in Xibaipo Memorial Hall, we were all marveled by those revolutionary martyrs who risked their own life for the people's liberation and the intelligence work in the revolution. The Xibaipo Integrity Education Center takes the theme of “Remembering the 'Two Musts' to keep the Party's progressiveness”. Through 306 photos and 127 artifacts, we learned about the history of the CPC's clean governance. The "Xibaipo Spirit" with the Two Musts at the core is a beacon that downs on the Chinese revolution and shrine bright on our root-seeking journey.

On June 1st, we went to Zhengding for further study. Secretary-General Xi spent more than three years working here, from March 1982 to May 1985. He once said: "Zhengding is where I started my political pursuit. It is my second hometown." We visited Tayuan Village Museum and Rongguo Mension. In Tayuan Village Museum, we were amazed by the development of villages in the new era, and realized profoundly President Xi’s dedication to the people, solid working style and the reforming spirit.

We then visited Rongguo Mansion, the shooting place of the Dream of the Red Mansions. We learned that President Xi is truly far-sighted to secure the development of Rongguo Mansion for Zhengding and raised funds to make it permanent building, which has boosted the local tourism industry and driven the local economic development. Although President Xi couldn’t see in-person this remarkable project due to work transfer, he has laid a solid foundation for Zhengding’s future development. We were all deeply moved by President Xi’s selfless dedication.

     Through the two-day field trip, we have deeper understanding about the challenges facing the party. The road to success is never straight, but the direction forward is clear. We have come a long way, but we have to overcome new challenges on the way ahead.   Going forward, we will keep in mind our original aspiration and continue to fore ahead.
